Good Morning! He is no longer in ICU they have moved Dwight to room # 516. Getting all the drainage tubes set up and working etc took about 1 1/2 -2 hours of our observation and nurses adjustments. When Respiratory suctions the sputum from his lungs they usually preceede it with morphine due to the EXCESSIVE pain the incision causes when he coughs it all up .... his lungs are clearing up each time they suction. He is SO alert .... he is 'right there' ... we just can't seem to get him across the barrier to full conscienciousness ..... he is SO VERY close!! He responds to certain voices .... Denise called yesterday and I held the phone up to his ear and his head kept turning and eyes searching for her face to go with the voice ... it was awesome! A friend from college is here and he squeezed their hand and responds positively to their voice. They chose to stay the night again and he remained awake most of the night. They finally told him they both needed some sleep .... Spalding (another long term acute care facility) is suppose to do an evaluation sometime today. The case worker, Margaret, is working on getting us a consultation with Mediplex .... pray this will transpire this 'afternoon' as we have a friend from Monument (1 hr) and a friend from Greeley (1hr) that we wish to sit in with us. We also are praying that MIRACULOUSLY Craig Hospital (THE rehab place) would accept Dwight in his current condition so we know he'd get the proper medical/rehab care and not have to move him again until bringing him home to KS. Pray for wisdom for Joe and I and clarilty of thought/questions for Joe and I and our 2 friends during this Mediplex meeting. Our goal is to make them accountable to the point that NO future patient comes so close to death as did Dwight due to their negligence. We are still resting in God and trusting HIM for HIS best for Dwight .... and for HIM to be glorified in this all!!! Joan - for us 4

P.S. Please pray that Joe and I (and Denise) continue to not hold bitterness towards Mediplex and that we reflect the character of Christ throughout this whole ordeal. Thanx!

P.S. Joe and I joined friends in Monument for church and lunch/fellowship .... what a SWEET fellowship it was .... VERY needed and helpful to say the least. Recharging our spirits!!
