Hey! Things continue to progress
nicely. They did an EEG on Dwight today. That is a test where
they track the brain activity, etc. He is beginning to follow
some commands for occupational and physical therapists. Ie:
OT asked him to open his Rock and Ice magazine (rock climbing
magazine) and he took his left hand and took the corner of the
magazine, flipped thru it with his finger nail and then took
some pages in his hand and opened it up. He scanned the pictures
with his eyes too! He still is not swallowing on command however.
So still pray for this. The antibiotics are causing loose stools
(C-diff they call it) Pray this will clear up or that they can
take him off the antibiotics. He seemed very alert to me today.
We have to restain his left hand with a 'mitt' that looks like
a boxing glove. We take it off periodically but the time is
less and less that we can leave it off as he grabs the trach
collar, peoples clothes, the cath hose, and twists his fingers
in hair (OUCH!) etc. This is good however as it shows he is
becoming more alert. Monday the OT asked him to put on his glasses
and with just 'slight' difficulty he did. By the way, he is
on room air (no oxygen) yet he has the cuff and hose for the
mist to keep his secretions thin and loose. They are encouraged
with his strong cough in that they feel he will be able to keep
his airways clear. We move daily in the right direction. Little
by little, step by step!! Keep praying and we'll keep you posted!!
May God find us faithful!!! joan for us 4
I Cor 2:5 "....so that our faith might not rest
on men's widom, but on GOD's POWER" ......
