Thursday night, March 27 - approx 10:00 PM

Hello!
Before I give today's update I'd like to share an intervention by God on Saturday that I neglected to mention. Dwight is on room air yet has the oxygen hose and cuff still to transfer a warm mist into the trach to keep the secretions loose. After suctioning him early evening on Saturday, the BA went to get respiratory because Dwight sounded raspy and dry ... I started to tell him to wait that Dwight was fine but didn't. Long story short, the Respiratory Tech (RT) changed out Dwight's trach and the existing one was 50% blocked!!!! Just like an artery.....if completely blocked Dwight could've smothered! PTL!!!!!!

Today Dwight was extremely alert. The PT thought she noticed Dwight move his right arm slightly. So in therapy she asked him to squeeze her finger and HE DID!!!! with his RIGHT hand on command!!!!!!!!!!! I got ALL misty eyed .... she asked him to do it again and HE DID!!!!! I cried!!!! It wasn't a weak squeeze either!!!!! He also, during therapy moved his RIGHT arm!!!!!!!!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!! He also moved his right arm a couple times in the room after that!!!!!! The EMG was suppose to be this week but I found out was scheduled for the 2nd of April then tonite upon leaving I found out it is rescheduled for the 9th. I'm not certain why so far out but will visit with his doctor about in on Monday when he returns from vacation.

Dwight was sitting in his wheelchair with both feet propped on another chair and he bent his RIGHT knee and rested his right foot on part of the wheelchair!!! He also shook hands on command. He tracked a picture of Denise VERY well and the ST said that his right eye is where his left one was upon admission to Craig and his left eye is doing MUCH better!!!! He is tracking with BOTH eyes together. He was even still VERY alert at 7 p.m. when I left and that is after being in the wheelchair all but 45min since 9:30 this morning. Perhaps the Simitrel (sp?) is working!!!! He still won't swallow on command and the speech therapist even had a StarBucks frapaccino to put with the ice chips!!! -- one of Dwight's favorites!!!

All this is SO exciting and encouraging!!! 1 Cor 2:5 "....so that our faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power". Still trusting God for that miraculous complete healing!!!!!!!!!!! May God find us faithful!!! joan for us 4
