Wednesday evening, April 2 - approx 11:15 PM

Hey! The big deal today is that he was switched to a Jackson Trach. This has NO cuff and therefore he can swallow freely and when he coughs, he 'sounds' like himself! He still is not swallowing on command. He is SO alert though. ST feels that it will be very soon that he will. He does swallow spontaneously. The Dr is pleased with his progress. The EMG will be next Wed the 9th. Dwight does not use the arm ... just moves it across his chest when he coughs. He will maneuver the right hand/arm with his left hand however. He was very restless tonght when we left at 8 and they thought he may be in pain. Perhaps from the bicycling yesterday or the trach or something. He just kept tossing and turning and could not get comfortable. It will be so nice when he can tell us what is bothering him and where! We sat outside for a total of about 2 hours today in the warmth and freshair. Keep praying .... expecting GREAT things from God!!
