Late Monday night (Tuesday morning, April 8) - approx 12:30 AM

Today was a relatively good day. He swallowed again for speech therapy - first time ... but he made a face. He wouldn't do it again and they were using frapaccino with the ice chips ... I smelled and then tasted the frapaccino and it had soured!! POOR GUY!!! So we got chocolate milk but he wouldn't do it again. Can't say I blame him! He did the wheel chair bicycle again today. He went much more slowly yet the PT said it was a MUCH better work out than before as it was more methodical and he had to 'think' about moving his legs and pedalling. He used more muscles this way. They changed the Jackson Trach to a "5" ... one more to go and then IT goes!!!! Once he is at a four and the 'hole' (the proper medical term escapes me right now) heals around it they will remove it competely and put a gauze dressing on it and it should close up in about 24 hours. They also removed the mist 'tubing' and mask over the trach and put a 'filter' that processes his breath and makes it a self misting thing-a-ma-bobber .....(I know Joe, I know .... I'm not your wife! ) .... anyway .... he is doing more each day. It was either his nurse or his BA that commented today that he is understanding more each day!
