Hello! Dwight is now weighing
in at 162.4!!!!!
He will be back in his size 34 waiste
jeans before I know it!! He did the "Lite Gait" again
yesterday and did MUCH better .... the three therapists that
work with him were impressed. We also practiced ... "stairs"
..... much help and caution needed but he did fairly well none-the-less.
His ankles are EXTREMEMLY tight and we are beginning exercises
to loosen them because until then the motor skill for stairs
is very trickey!!! We inquired about his sing-songey, seemingly
'slurred' speech ... mostly when he is in a hurry or tired ...
this will correct itself in time. His "Theraputic Rec"
therapist visited with me about our home-going. She wants us
to encourage people to treat Dwight 'normal' .... Do not shun
him nor fear talking with him ..... he may have limitations now
but they will improve and "I" know with God's MIRACLE
in the making, he'll be 'normal' ~~with time.... Lisa (the TR)
said that people 'flourish' when they get home.....its just that
sometimes others don't know how to accept/treat/communicate with
the injured party. Just be normal. There are always those that
reject the injured or exclude them from events they otherwise
would've included them in, but we pray this will not happen.
His "Mat Class" members gave him a 'farewell' party
today as this was his last mat class ... Dr. Berry (the Neuro-phsycologist)
pulled Dwight from a non-essential hour long class to have additional
time with him ... Dwight said he is taking a battery of tests
and he thinks they are going okay. Lauda Hartman, our nursing
student friend from VA, with friend Anna, arrived today!!! What
a GEM!!!!! She was a sight for sore eyes .... She begins her
internship on 2-West (the floor Dwight just left Monday) this
coming Monday and she will work her first 12 hours shift with
one of Dwight's nurses that he has had from the beginning! Pretty
cool we think. The only thing better would have been had she
been here sooner or him discharged later ..... ALL is in God's
timing and we are just grateful to have time with her now. Well,
I trust I haven't rambled too much .... it is late and the stress
of the 'home-going' is DEFINITELY catching up to me (as with
Joe too .... ) I am not sleeping well and remain fatigued throughout
the day AND ""I"" will HAVE to drive
on Sunday as
Joe will drive the van we had to rent and I will drive Dwight's
car. AND my body is programmed to 'sleep' during travel of a
familiar route!!!
God will see us home safely .... Thanx
for your prayers .....
May God find US faithful!!!! joan for us 4
1 Cor. 2:5 "so that 'our' faith should not rest on the
wisdom of men BUT on the POWER OF GOD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
