Hi!
I was holding off sending an update until after our meeting
today with the neuro-psychologist. However, Joe found out Friday
that he had to go to CA this whole week so we had to cancel the
conference with the doctor.
Things are going well. Dwight's
physical strength continues to improve daily. He is now at 183
lbs. just 4 lbs shy of where he was at the time of the accident.
PTL!! His endurance for physical activity is not yet where
he would like it to be but he knows his limit and does not do
more than he is able.
He had a great birthday! He
rec'd around 35 bday cards ... thanx to each one who sent one.
It did TRUELY encourage him ... We (Joe, Dwight, David, Denise
and I) went out to eat - his choice, then went and did 18 holes
of Miniature Golf (he came in second!!!!!) and then to Denise's
for Ice-cream cake. It was a blessed time of celebration and
reflection on God's mercy for allowing him to be here to enjoy
his birthday.
Upon return home he had FOUR birthday messages waiting on the
answering machine!! Sorry we weren't home folks!!!!
His speech therapist's last day
is Wednesday ... the replacement seems able ... she has worked
with adult brain-injury patients before ... so we will see how
it goes.
We meet with Dr. Veenis (the
doc. overseeing the therapies) next Tuesday. It will be interesting
to see his assessment of how things are going.
Tonight Dwight will attend the
last baseball game of his team ... the one he 'normally' plays
on and they dedicated this season to him. They have taken first
place and the coach is going to arrange for Dwight to 'bat' at
least once tonight .... he'll need a pinch-runner ... but it
should be challenging and fun for him .... I wonder how LARGE
the helmets are ????? HA! HA!
Keep praying as we ALL need it
... Joe and I feel overwhelmed at times and uncertain but we
still rest in that "The doctors aren't God, GOD IS GOD"!!!!!!
Keep praying the frontal lobes will resume full function ....
THANX! Much love to all .....
May God find US faithful!!!! joan for us 5
1 Cor. 2:5 "so that 'our' faith should not rest on the
wisdom of men BUT on the POWER OF GOD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
